I found several recipes on how to make salt dough:
Salt Dough recipe, there are also ideas on how to scent & color the dough. Then ways to sculpt, dry & give each ornemnet a shine.
Microwaveable Salt Dough recipe There are ideas on how to decorate each ornement towards the bottem after each has been dried out.
Simple Salt Dough recipe, very simple & right to the point
All the about recipes call for the same portion of salt, water & flour. What ever one you use is your own choice.
I decided to use the first recipe. I ended up over baking the first batch. And many times I forgot to put a spot to thread the ribbon threw. We only ended up with 6 ornaments and about 8 painted shapes :)

- Cookie cutters (we used an angel, snowman, bell & holly leaf)
- Paper (we used red, green & white)
- crayons, markers, glitter or whatever you want your child to use to decorate (we only used crayons)
- scissors
- glue (I used scrap booking "zots")
- ribbon
- Trace each cookie cutter once on each piece of paper
- Let child color on the papers
- Cut out each cookie cutter shape when child is done coloring
- Over lap each cookie cutter shape with corresponding shapes, then glue to liking
- Punch hole at top of shape
- Thread ribbon threw hole & tie
And your done!
