Loving the new potty training attempt!

Its has been one week since I changed my whole potty training routine with Logan. I have to say it is going wonderfully! I highly regret spending all that money on pull-ups!

 Logan is really proud of himself every time he gets to pour his pee into the big potty.

He really enjoys picking out which pair of underwear he gets to wear.

He does really well at getting to the potty when he needs to. However he has trouble getting over the gate so that results in accidents. I have to say 98% of his accidents are because of that. He has had a few poop accidents also. I'm not sure how to get him comfortable with pooping on the potty. That will be our next goal, after we get peeing down!

All together Logan is doing great. He has been doing great from the start.

New approach on potty training.

After reading, Clover Lanes: Potty Training, I have decided to take a new approach. This morning I hid all Logan's pull ups and set out his pile of his underwear for the day (we will stick to good nights for the night time only, for now). I am mentally prepared to remind him every 30 minutes to an hour to use the potty. As well as ask him where he needs to go pee (the correct answer to this for him is "Elmo potty"). I have also mentally prepared myself for the numerous amount of times I might have to change his undies a day. I plan on not taking him out anywhere for the next couple days in hope that he will catch on quickly at home. Then we will slowly bring him out. When we are out I just need to remember to pack extra undies, pants, socks & maybe even a pair of shoes! Also to bring his big potty attacher with us.

My only down fall is not having a washer or dryer in my apartment. I will have to go do a small load of laundry every night to make sure he has enough underwear for the following day.

Logan's choice of underwear is the Toy Story 3 pack (can I complain on how expensive 7 pairs of underwear are). We bought 3 different packs to start.

I still have hopes in having him potty trained before Conner's arrival. I know I have been working at this for weeks now. I guess I finally figured out where we have going wrong (the pull ups). So lets see how strictly underwear turns out to be!

Logan & potty training!

We are still potty training. Logan still has several accidents a day. He gets better at it every day. He is realizing when he has to pee before he pees, which is always good. He knows when he has to poop also but much rather poop in his pull up.

I found he doesn't make it to the potty in time when the gate is in front of the bathroom door. He tends to have an accident while he is trying to get over the gate. To fix this problem I took the gate down and keep the door close (so Mason doesn't invade the bathroom). Logan has no problem opening the door.

We are still working on him pulling down his own pants & pull up. Right now he is having a lot of trouble. He gets very frustrated and that too ends in an accident.

But we still are having progress, I just wish and hope he will be in big boy undies soon. When he does wear the big boy undies we have he does pretty good in them.

All in all, Logan is still potty training. He is still trying. We will not give up. Maybe I should take it to the next step and have him wear big boy undies always. Maybe he wont like how wet he gets when he has an accident. I probably wont try this step till after Christmas due to the fact that we wont be home much next week.

I still have high hopes of him being fully potty trained before Conner's arrival!

Day TEN of the potty!

Can I explain how overly proud I am of Logan for using the potty?! Yes, I am a very proud momma!

Although it seems he is having more accident than last week we still are having great progress. Even today he stopped playing and went to the potty to pee! He is doing fantastic. He also goes pee after he wakes up and does it all on his own!

He no longer asks for stickers after he pees but I try to put them up after every time. I think I have lost track. But seriously stickers dont matter, him using the potty matters and he is doing GREAT!

Hopefully only a couple more weeks and he is fully potty trained! Maybe we should get him some big boy undies for Christmas, I think so!

A few things. Quick? Maybe.

1. For the past 2 days Logan has not wanted to use the potty as much. Its upsetting but also we have not been at home as much. So I believe he is uncomfortable using other peoples potties. I just hope we don't end up taking steps back. I really will like steps forward. This also shows he is not ready for big boy undies (cloth). I am still very proud of him. He has used the potty at least three times for the past week!

2. We had a second and third Thanksgiving! I love spending time with my family as well as the Murphy family (in-laws but I don't like to call them that). For my family we did a simple Pizza Thanksgiving. For however long I can remember we have always done a full Thanksgiving dinner but this year it got changed up to pizza. It was nice to have something different and still see all my family! Then we went to the Murphy's and had a fantastic Turkey dinner! Second one for me! I love turkey dinner. I love the different ways everyone cooks. Plus I'm really glad I don't have to cook. Not yet at least. Maybe in a few years I will start the tradition at my own house but for now I don't mind going to my mom, my uncles and the Murphy's!

3. I am very disappointed in myself for my lack of picture taking lately! Seriously, I'm usually a photo happy person but lately I haven't taken many pictures. I'm not sure if its because my camera is so big to luge around or because I'm just unsure of what to take pictures of. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE my camera. Its like an other baby to me. I just need to start taking it out more and take pictures!

Day Five of the potty!

Logan is doing FANTASTIC! He even went on the potty all by himself today! He did it about 5 times by himself today! It was so great! I think in total Logan got 9 or 10 stickers! I gave him 2 stickers for when he went potty all by himself. He gets excited every time he pees. You can really see how  proud he is of himself when he uses the potty.

He had I believe 2 accidents, one was pee and the other was poop. He was so sad that he pooped in his pull up. He went right to the potty after he pooped in his pull up and sat there for a minute trying to go again.

I'm waiting an other week, maybe two depending on how he is doing to put big boy undies on him. I'm going to bring him to the store and let him pick them out!

In all he is doing so great, I am so proud of him! Lets see what day 5 brings!

Day THREE of the POTTY!

O yes we are on day three and we are doing fantastic! This morning was a little rough and Logan slightly refused to use the potty. But some how I manage to get him on it.

He now picks what potty he would like to use. If I pick he freaks. I dont want him to freak. I want him to be comfortable peeing. So I let him be comfortable. He really likes when we sing. Its so cute, he tries to sing with me.

But today he went on the potty FOUR times! Im so proud of him. I think he would have gone 5 maybe 6 times today but Justin and I went to the Celtics game and my brother was here babysitting. My brother says he had him sit on the potty but who is to say. To me FOUR times is fantastic! Its one more time than yesterday!

Logan is seriously doing so great! He even checks to make sure his 'space ship' is still blue on his pull up. Now if you have a potty training toddler you know that the pull up he is wearing are the Toy Story ones. I still remind him every half hour not to pee on Buzz & Woody and to make sure his 'space ship' is still there. He does really well!

O Im so excited!!! Lets hope we can get 5 stickers tomorrow :) Im so proud of him!

Oh Potty, Potty!

Day 2 of using the potty has gone great! Between yesterday and today Logan has peed on the potty 6 times! I am so proud of him! He has 6 stickers on his chart. However, we have gone through half a pack of pull ups in the last two days! I know accidents are going to happen. We are working on his ready to pee ques slowly. He is like many kids who are getting potty trained, does not want to stop having fun or watching his cartoon to pee. I have been asking him and reminding him every half hour about peeing. Then every hour we sit on the potty. He likes it when I sing 'the itsy bitsy spider'. Also he likes to change up what potty he sits on. Either its the Elmo potty, the big potty or the baseball potty (one of those big potty attachments for his little bum). He really likes it when someone is in the bathroom with him. We are having trouble pulling down and up the pull up. But all these flaws and accidents will soon enough be a thing of the past!

I am a very proud momma! I just hope for no set backs and that we dont over whelm him. As of right now he is doing fantastic! And I couldnt be happier!

Potty Potty Potty!

Yes he did! It was so exciting for all of us. We sat him on the potty this morning and he went! It was great! He was so excited that we were excited that he peed again in the same sitting!

We even poured the pee into the toilet & he got to flush the toilet & say bye bye to the pee! He was excited to do all the too!

He got a sticker & we gave him a toy from the little $1 items we have gotten for his Christmas stocking! He was very excited to put the sticker on his chart!

Now its the matter of him knowing when he needs to go and to go on the potty. I ask him if he need to use the potty every half hour and sit him on the potty every hour. I feel like sitting him on the potty every half hour might be to over whelming for him. But he gets to color, play with play dough, his cars, talk, whatever he wants while he sits there. And he sits for a bout 10 minuets.

Im super excited & hope this turns into a permanent thing! Potty training in progress and slowly taking off!

Potty training thoughts & ideas

So for a few months now Ive been wanting to potty train Logan. He has been very interested in the potty, he watches Justin use the potty & even enjoys his big boy undies. But he doesnt want to sit on the potty.  He has a melt down, screams and throws a tantrum. Ive been trying all sorts of ways to get him to use it.

Some ways I have tried:
-run around naked (end in pee all over the carpets, couch and linens)
-wear big boy undies (went through a 7 pack in one day)
-use the potty after Justin
-sit on the potty before tubby time
-aim for Cheerios, fruit loops
-tell him the Backyardigans, Batman & his big cousins use the potty
-read him stories
-sit him in front of the tv with his potty
-ask him every 30 minuets
-sit him on the potty & tell him he gets to flush it when he is done
-bribe him with sweets & toys

Those are a bunch of ways. I think my next attempt are those ever so expensive (well not to expensive) training pants that get cold when they pee. I really want Logan potty trained with in the next 6 months. Truly before Conner arrives would be wonderful! Night time accidents are fine, just day time diaper changing I want to disappear.

Im going to go buy these rice targets & this book "Potty". Also Im going to start reading his potty book to him before bed. Maybe something will click if I read it to him at night.

I also need to be a strong enforcer on this. I need to stick to it and not jump around on him. Or even skip days. Lets see how well I do also!

Attack of the eggs!

So Im wondering why must a 2 year old get into things he knows he shouldn't?! Yesterday Justin & I woke up to smashed eggs all over his room. Logan must have thought Mason was his target because I found 2 eggs in the crib & 2 eggs thrown against the wall behind the crib. As well as 2 maybe 3 eggs smashed around his room. We still are unsure what happened to 2 of the eggs. We had 9 eggs in the cartoon and only counted 7! Then Logan got into a bunch of the travel size baby shampoo, lotion and destine in the bathroom. He also thought the sink needed cleaning because there was water all over the counter. I heard the water going so I jumped out of bed!

Now this isnt the first encounter with the eggs. Luckily the first time was only 3 eggs. He has also gotten into the salt & pepper, sugar, the baby cereal, baby Gerber stars, candy, all the permanent markers (which he writes on the walls with), and famously the apple smelling Dawn dish soap (TWICE)

I have to say the eggs & dish soap are the worse to clean out of carpet! However the dish soap did smell good. Just it was pleasant that he decided to dump it all over Mason. Poor Mason couldnt open his eyes. And I had to scrub the carpet for a good 40 minuets to get as much as I could out. Plus the first time Logan didnt  understand dish soap hurts your eyes and he got it all over his face. My poor silly boys!

Now you ask how my 2 year old gets into all of this. Simple, he wakes up earlier than me, and much earlier than Justin. He knows how to be quiet and sneaky. My theory with him, if he's to quiet he is either sleeping or cause trouble! 9 out of 10 times he is causing trouble.

I look back at all the things he gets into and it makes me laugh but in the moment Im frustrated. We do discipline him, nothing seems to work. Sigh, I guess its all in good time.

Just felt like sharing my morning terror story. I wish I got picture but I was to frustrated to even think like that. Needless to say we are investing in a fridge lock today.

Logan's 2nd Birthday Party!

Logan's party for his 2nd birthday was this past weekend! He had so much fun. He got a lot of great presents (Thank you to everyone). Here are some pictures from the party (enjoy)

Logan's 2nd Birthday!

Yes, Logan is 2!!! Where did my baby go! Its temper tantrums, trucks, & dirt now!

We didn't do much for his birthday. We got him a a few outfits and a pair of sandals for the summer. We had cake and played with water guns. And enjoyed some time at our local park. So to him it was a good day. It was about 90 degrees out also! Would have been a perfect day for his party but that is planned for the end of the month. All in all Logan enjoyed his birthday.

I love my baby who really isn't a baby anymore. He is growing up so fast and learning so much. He is really smart and says a million different things. He is very active and fun. I just love his laugh and smile. I cant wait to see what this next year will bring!!!

Happy 22 months to my peanut who isn't much of a peanut anymore!

Yes, yes, Logan is 22 months today! Boy how time flies! Before I know it he will be 2! 2 years old! What am I going to do. About this time I start to figure out his birthday party. I think we will be doing Sponge Bob! He loves Sponge Bob. For his first birthday we did the Backyardigans. He loved it. I wish they had Sid the Science Kid stuff. He loves him too. Maybe I'll do Curious George! He loves him too. O man, I just didn't know.

We are planning to visit the Boston Children Museum next weekend. They have a Curious George exhibit! Logan is going to LOVE it.

Today is an other day indoors! Its really getting boarding being inside all the time! We had 7 days of on and off rain/snow! Was not fun! I cant wait for the warm weather! Walks to the park, basketball, just being outdoors! Its going to be so great! So...

Dear Spring,
Please hurry up and arrive! I'm feeling really blue and the winter has gotten me down! Warm weather is always a plus in my life.

He is growing to fast.

3 weeks =[ So sad but so great. Mason is 3 weeks today. He has grown and change (although he is still in his newborn clothes) so much in the last 3 weeks.

He now has developed a pretty awesome schedule. He sleeps pretty much from 1am to about 7am. He also has a couple periods through out the day that he is awake. He is very alert and loves to look around to figure out all the sounds around him. He holds his head great. We do tummy time at least once a day. However he still has his block tear duct and a bad cough. He coughs up mucus and I just feel so bad. At times he coughs so hard and so much he spits up. For the past few nights I have him sleeping in his car seat. He seems to do better when he is sitting up.

But all in all he is doing great. I just cant believe he is 3 weeks. 1 more week & he'll be a month. How time flies.

Logan has been wonderful lately. His schedule is going great. I enjoying doing flash cards and reading with him. He is beginning to really listen. Justin and I read him a story or two to him before every nap and bedtime. Him going down for naps and going to bed at 8:30 has really helped with everything from his attitude all day to my saneness for the day. He is beginning to pick up on more words and repeating things back. I cant believe his going to be 22 months in a couple weeks.

How time has flown for both my boys. I'm really treasuring every moment I can with them even when I get upset.

Justin and I have been looking for an apartment. We found one we really liked and put our application in but we got denied. So our search for the perfect first place for us is still on.

2 weeks has passed so quickly.

Mason is 2 weeks today. He is such a great baby. He is very mellow and can sleep through anything!

I believe he has a cold and a blocked tear duct. His eye has a yellow/green discharge. I feel bad. I have to call his pedi in the morning.

He did his first up the back poop today. It wasn't pretty nor fun to clean up so Justin and I put him in the bath! Fast and easy clean up.

But I cant believe its been 2 weeks already. I'm really enjoying him the most I can because I now understand when people say they grow up so fast. I treasure every moment I can with Logan and Mason. They are great boy although Logan is hitting his terrible twos!

Speaking of Logan, we are working on a new schedule. So far it has been going well. He has been doing great with going to bed at 8:30. That is 1.5-2 hour bedtime cut! I love it. I now have time relax, shower, clean up and get to bed at a decent time. Just now we need to start working on his screaming. Its really getting to me. I'm not sure what to do to help control it or have him stop.
